What Was Your Life Like Before Your Transformation?

My freshman year of college I had a career ending knee injury in football. I tore my ACL, MCL, PCL, quad, and dislocated my knee cap. Once I got hurt I saw my rapid weight gain.

Over the span of 4 years I would eat away my feelings. I was angry that I was not able to play college football anymore, which was my childhood dream. During the 4 years after getting hurt I pushed anyone that was close to me away. As soon as I got hurt I spiraled into a deep depression and was addicted to the pain medication that was prescribed to me.

After quitting cold turkey on pain meds my anger and bad attitude showed up. During this time I would spend most of my time outside of school, hiding in my bedroom with the door locked. I tried to isolate myself from everyone and push everyone away from me.

I realized once I started my transformation I was angry at life. I was most angry with the fact that the exact play before I blew my knee out I was asked by my position coach if I wanted to take a breather and come out of the scrimmage but I said no.

After I had surgery the head coach of my college team offered me to keep my scholarship and be an assistant coach for him on the team. This was also extremely hard for me because
not only was I coaching kids my age and older and I didn't receive much respect but I also felt that I should still be playing with the team.

I was also angry because a few weeks after I had surgery my freshman year one of my baseball coaches passed away in an accident. I was a 19 year old kid who had so much bad happening at once I didn't know how to handle it, so I would just put on a show for people that I was happy and okay but in reality I was heavily depressed.

Please Detail Your Turning Point

I used to read transformation stories on websites and I always saw stories where people had their turning point and I could never understand why I didn't have mine yet.

I can remember it like it was yesterday. I was working at the local YMCA as a trainer, life guard,
and the after school program teacher. One day I was working in the gym and I saw myself in the mirror and told myself it's time to change, it's time to stop blaming my knee for not working out or being in shape, and time to forgive what happened in the past.

That day is when I found Marc Lobliner's diet for transformation and I used that diet plan. When I had my turning point I was living with a girl I was in a four year relationship with and I was extremely lucky to have someone be so supportive about my decision and help me in any way possible.

What Were Your Major Struggles or Challenges?

The biggest struggle was letting go of the past and what caused me to gain all my weight. Once I had that moment where I decided to change I told myself that I needed to get healthier physically but also mentally. Getting over losing my childhood dream took me 5 years to
come to terms with that and even to this day there are some days where I struggle with trying to understand why it happened but it made me who I am today.

I was dating a girl who convinced me to go see a therapist. Shortly after talking to the therapist I was put on medication for depression and to this day the depression side, and my body image
issues, are a few of the hardest things to get over. But it's a daily challenge that I need to accomplish each day.

Detail Your Workout and Cardio Plan During Your Transformation

When I first started my journey I would walk for 45 minutes and then lift weights for another 30-40 minutes. After losing 75 pounds I decided I wanted to take my fitness level to another level, and have been training for powerlifting competitions since.

Currently I lift 6 days a week, and do 45 minutes of cardio 6-7 days a week.

Detail Your Diet/Eating Plan During Your Transformation

When I first started my journey I followed Marc Lobliners Fat Loss book for diet and I saw great results. Since I started training for powerlifing I am currently still trying to lose weight but gain
strength.

My trainer has me carb cycling right now. For 3 days I have 120 grams of carbs, 220-250 grams of protein, and 40 grams of fat. Then on the 4th day I have 300 grams of carbs and my protein and fat stays the same.

I also allow myself one cheat meal a week. I usually try to plan my dinner for Saturdays as my cheat meal.

Detail Your Supplement Plan During Your Transformation

It took me a while after my transformation to order MTS Whey but ever since then I have not changed my protein powder. I use MTS Whey twice a day.

I also use MTS Machine Fuel as my BCAAs. I am currently on the Ruckus and Vasky stack from MTS. I have tried other brands at first but ever since I have been ordering MTS not only does it taste amazing, but I am seeing amazing results.

What Was Your Major Accomplishment, or Major Milestones?

My biggest accomplishment was hitting the 100 pound total weight loss mark. I can remember I set a huge goal to lose 100 pounds in one year and even though it wasn't exactly a year it took me a year and about 2 months to hit that goal.

Another milestone is since I have been training for powerlifting I was able to have my 3 total lifts stronger than ever and overcoming my knee injury and squatting as much as I do is a huge milestone for me and getting over my past.

Detail Your 3 Biggest Mistakes
  1. At some points in my transformation I was too focused on what the scale said. I would get so frustrated or mad if I didn't see the numbers I thought it would. I suggest to weigh yourself every 2 weeks so you wont get discouraged.
  2. About half way through my transformation is when I realized I would freak out over small things like having a cookie. I got into the mindset that if I ate something like that that it would make me gain all my weight back and sometimes I would even force myself to puke it
up. It took me months to overcome that but now I realize that having candy, or a cookie ever once In a while wont make me gain 100 pounds back.
  3. I wish at the beginning of my transformation that I would of not done it alone. Shortly after I started my journey is when my girlfriend of 5 years and I broke up and I would always just spend as much time as I could at the gym. I isolated myself away from friends and family because I was so focused on my journey. Let the people who love you in your life be apart of your journey.
Biggest Things You Learned During Your Transformation?
  1. You will not change until you truly will do anything possible to change your life. A transformation is a journey that happens every single day. One quote that has always stuck with me is from Eric Thomas: "When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breath, then you'll be successful." Another quote I saw that always sticks with me is your workout and diet today is your transformation picture next month.
  2. Do not start your transformation for someone else, do it for yourself and yourself only. When I first started I used to hate seeing myself with my shirt off or even in the mirror but it is extremely important to love yourself and love what you look like. Once you love yourself then you will come to terms with being overweight and will have a better chance at success for changing your life.
Final Words of Advice for Others Looking to Make a Change?

With starting a transformation you may need to give up some things you don't want to such as going out drinking with friends or out to dinner. One of the biggest keys to success is meal prepping for the entire week and not giving into your friends that are not on the same diet as
you.

If your friends ask you out for dinner at first I always said no but then I realized I'm missing my social life. So what I would do is eat my dinner that I made at my house and then go to dinner with my friends but only order water to drink.

Another advice tip I have is there will be plenty of days where you feel down or do not want to
continue but if you follow fitness people on social media it helps you stay motivated. Another advice tip I have is if you are just starting your weight loss journey and you are in the gym working hard and staying on your diet you are already ahead of half the people who want
to change.

One of the biggest struggles starting a transformation is walking into that gym because you feel people will judge you for being overweight. But what I've learned is, yea there are some tool bags who judge you but there are also so many people who support what your doing that you don't even know they support you.

My biggest piece of advice is be consistent with not only your workout but also your diets. And also there are days where you fall off the wagon from your diet but understand we are all human and have slip-ups, so understand tomorrow is a new day and be thankful for the small things in life, and make each day the best day of your life.

I would like to thank everyone who has reached out to me over my journey and told me how proud they were or how good I looked. Once I started powerlifting is when I started to post pictures of my journey and that's when I saw the most support from people who I didn't even
thought they cared what I was doing.
