Roelly Winklaar - Bio and Competition History

Egberton RuloveRoelly Winklaar, also known as Roelly Winklaar, is an IFBB professional bodybuilder born and raised in the Dutch island of Curacao. Roelly moved to the Netherlands when he was five years old, after the death of his father.

He is the perfect example of incredible symmetry, size, and definition.

Roelly Winklaar did not decide to pursue a career in bodybuilding until after surviving a horrendous car accident. From that moment, he changed his life and found a coach and friend who introduced him to bodybuilding and the fitness industry.

Over the next five years, Winklaar trained rigorously and did everything he could to gain size while sculpting a lean physique. The only drawback was the fact that Winklaar did not have much knowledge about bodybuilding at the time.

It was that point when he started searching for a professional coach to help him reach new heights.

After asking a lot of bodybuilders at his gym about who was the best trainer in the Netherlands, Winklaar was introduced to Sybill - an ex-female bodybuilder and professional coach. Sybill took him under her wing and allowed him to make some serious improvements in his size, stage routine, and discipline.

Winklaar got his Pro Card after winning the 2009 NPC Arnold Amateur Championships. This was the point when he became an IFBB Pro and when he got the motivation necessary to continue progressing in the sport.

In 2010, Roelly earned his first trophy as a professional at the IFBB New York Pro competition. This introduced him to the modern bodybuilding audience and he soon became recognized as one of the most promising bodybuilders in the modern era.

Since 2010, Roelly Winklaar has been part of dozens of IFBB competitions including the Mr. Olympia. In 2013 and 2015, he placed 7th at the Olympia Weekend and in 2016, he took the sixth place.

If there is one thing that we can learn from Winklaar, it is the fact that fulfilling your potential is important - no matter what happens before or after that. Even though Roelly spent years dominating amateur competitions, it wasn’t until the car crash that he took his potential to a whole new (professional) level.
