Life was difficult being 300 pounds plus. I tried to play sports but couldn't really keep up with my friends. I played football and basketball, my size led me to quit basketball but I stuck with football.
I could never find clothes in the store and had to order them online because I was getting so big. I could not fit on a roller coaster because of my size.

I was around 15 years old when something hit me. Either it was from not being able to fit on a roller coaster or I wanted to get better at football. I knew I need to change because it would help me in my future.
What Were Your Major Struggles or Challenges?
My major struggle was getting loose skin from losing the weight. I was around 260 pounds when I noticed it.
When I lost some more weight it started to hurt from running and other football type movements. I had to make sure I wore tight compression so I was relieved from that pain.
Detail Your Workout and Cardio Plan During Your Transformation
When I first started at 15 (as a freshman at 320lbs) I used a bowflex and did that every night for a half hour with no cardio. In June, 2011, eventually I bought free weights that I put in my shed in the summer and I would do weights everyday plus run outside or shoot hoops in between sets. I got down to 240 pounds by December.
Throughout high school I stayed at that weight and lifted with the football team. After graduation I got up to 260lbs so I lost more weight. I started in January, 2015. By September 2015 I was down to 204lbs by weight training and the right amount of cardio.
Detail Your Diet/Eating Plan During Your Transformation
At first I just ate less by cutting out pop/soda. Then I remember eating a chicken breast and a salad for almost every meal. After I lost most the weight I learned more about nutrition and eat more to gain strength for football.
After graduation and I wanted to lose more. I learned about macros and counted carbs everyday. With that diet I maintained most of my muscle and lost over 50 pounds.
Detail Your Supplement Plan During Your Transformation
At first I never bothered with them until a little later in high school. I started to take protein, creatine, and pre-workout. Early 2015 on my cut I took more to maintain muscle. I took BCAAs and more vitamins. I also added a fat burner in the mix.
What Was Your Major Accomplishment, or Major Milestones?
At 15 at 320 pounds I wanted to see 280 pounds on that scale. Once I reached that I was so happy.
Another accomplishment was when I finally lost 100 pounds total. I had reached 220lbs. Another accomplishment was seeing veins in my forearms and legs because I knew I was doing it right and getting leaner.
Detail Your 3 Biggest Mistakes
- One mistake was not eating correctly in the beginning.
- Second mistake was working the same muscle everyday in the beginning.
- Third mistake was not taking supplements to help me.
- One thing I learned is determination ever since 2011 I have been doing this and I plan on doing it the rest of my life.
- Second thing I learned is its a trail and error. Sometimes one thing doesn't work for you and you need to try something else.
- Third thing I learned is I am inspiration for others. I can help others who need help by telling them my story.
My advice for others is educate yourself on the workouts and nutrition before you start. It could harm you instead of help you if you don't know what you are doing.
