Before my transformation, I was still relatively active but my dieting aspect was awful. I would eat anything and everything not thinking of the bigger picture of what that was doing to my body.
I would all go out and party every weekend because that's what all my friends were doing at the time and I didn't have a care in the world.
Eventually I became unhappy with how I looked and felt and started to take the gym more seriously, but still had no idea of the diet aspect of it!
Shortly after that I got sick and started seeing some doctors to get answers. The final call was that I we developing fatty liver disease. I had so much fat stored around that area that it was starting to get into my liver and was a dangerous place for me to be. That's when I knew I had to clean up.
What Were Your Major Struggles or Challenges?
My major challenges were staying consistent. I would start eating cleaner but caved in and went back to my normal self withing a week or two.
Detail Your Workout and Cardio Plan During Your Transformation
For the first two and a half years I was just consistently hitting the weights. I used hardly any cardio and had no proper knowledge of diet. I did start to lean out a bit more in early 2015.
Once I got to that point I was approached by who is now my coach for competition saying he thought I had what it takes to do the cut and enter my first competition. That's when we began the diet and proper training.
Detail Your Diet/Eating Plan During Your Transformation
Once starting the diet I was eating more food than usual but different foods including more vegetables and cleaner sources of carbs. My body took reaction to this very quickly and I started to see my fat mass disappear over the weeks! Giving me the motivation to stick to it and keep pushing.
Detail Your Supplement Plan During Your Transformation
My only supplementation during my transformation was using Isolate proteins and pre-workouts so make sure I was getting the most out of my workouts even on my slower days.
What Was Your Major Accomplishment, or Major Milestones?
My major accomplishment was finally seeing abs that I had never been able to see before and sticking to my cut for the entire 16 weeks leading up to my first men's physique competition, where I placed 2nd in my class.
Detail Your 3 Biggest Mistakes
- Not getting started sooner.
- Giving into cravings.
- Not listening to my body when I was younger.
- Diet plays a much bigger role on transforming your body than the training does.
- Anything you want to accomplish can be achieved when you put the right mindset to play.
- Surround yourself with only those who lift you up and towards your goal.
Just be consistent, you may not see the progress you want right away and I know it's frustrating, but good things take time. Just put in the effort now and reap the benefits later!
I plan on maintaining a relatively lean physique now that I've seen that I am capable and plan on helping others who needs that little push to get them going when I see potential.
