EAV Barbell Club Bans Cops and Vets
Law enforcement officers have been a fixture in society for centuries. They represent safety, security, protection, and heroism. For a time, police officers were lauded for doing the job no one else wanted. Yet given recent events, the relationship between cops and common folk has disintegrated into an uncomfortable one, more reminiscent of a bitter, ugly divorce than a partnership of law and order. Jim Chambers, owner of the gym, posted a sign stating:

"Rules: Do whatever the hell you want, correctly, except Crossfit cultism. No f------ cops."

Once word of the sign spread across the media, Chambers removed the sign, but stated that eventually he would re-post it. When asked about the offensive sign, Chambers said:

"We've had an explicitly stated ‘no cop' policy since we opened, and we also don't open membership to active members of the military."

Chambers maintains that the majority of his clientèle are minorities and the presence of law enforcement officers makes them uncomfortable. He then claimed that he and his members do not need the help of law enforcement now or in the future. The Atlanta Police Department didn't comment on the ban but stated:

"Were we to respond to an emergency there, this sign would not stop us from lawfully doing our job."

Upon hearing this, Chambers responded:

"If they have a warrant, they can go anywhere they want, but we're not breaking the law."
