1987 Mr. Olympia - Winner Lee Haney

The 1987 Mr. Olympia contest was held on October 31st at the Scandinavium in Gothenburg, Sweden. There were 18 professional bodybuilders competing for the first prize, some of which rising stars, others in the peak of their career.

And then there was Lee Haney - the potential winner of the fourth consecutive Mr. Olympia title. Haney was a favorite to the audience at the time, mostly because of his amazing genetics and the perfect physique that will be remembered for many decades.

For the second consecutive year, the 1987 Mr. Olympia was an event where Haney had to defend the trophy from the shredded Rich Gaspari. Even though Haney was in his lifetime form, Rich Gaspari's muscle development was also impressive.

Lee Haney always made his presence known, and that was the case on the 1987 Mr. Olympia event too. When he flexed his dominating physique, it became apparent that he is a threat in the bodybuilding scene - and was certainly looked as one judging the faces of his competitors.

And even though Gaspari did everything he could at the time, it was hard to stop Lee Haney and his amazing body, massive figure and chiseled physique from holding the fourth consecutive Mr. Olympia title.

Lee Haney was even greater than his boyhood idol Robby Robinson, and was determined to show everyone that he is potentially becoming the greatest of all time. Even though it was early for assumptions like these, the 1987 Mr. Olympia gave Haney a chance to stick closer to Schwarzenegger's record.
