1966 Mr. Olympia - Winner Larry Scott

The 1966 Mr. Olympia contest began with the presentation of the winners of the last awards in the Mr. America, Mr. World, and Mr. Universe contests. After that show was over, everyone prepared for the final contest which was gathering the most coveted physiques from all around the world.

It was the second year of the Mr. Olympia competition but the first time four bodybuilders stepped on stage to compete against each other and show their chiseled physiques. Aside from the 1965 Mr. Olympia winner Larry Scott, lights were shed on Harold Poole, Earl Maynard, Chuck Sipes (a former Mr. America and Mr. Universe winner) and Sergio Oliva (the Mr. World winner at that time).

The first man out was Chuck Sipes, a man with a solid definition and massive proportions. As soon as he thrilled the fans with his great shape, it was time for Sergio Oliva to step on the scene. Minutes after he was proclaimed Mr. World, he showed why he is ready to compete for the Mr. Olympia and take Scott's title in the second year. Next was Harold Poole who was actually improved from the past year and had a solid posing routine that impressed a lot of fans.

Last but not the least was Larry Scott, the defender of the title. The applause for him was ear-shattering, and the fans couldn't wait to see how bigger Scott was from the previous year. As soon as he went through the poses, Larry showed that he is in the best shape of his life. At the moment, it was clear that he is winning the Mr. Olympia once again - and the judges confirmed that later.

Even though the selection was difficult for the judges, it was clear that Larry Scott was among the most impressive bodybuilders at the time. The fans applauded and Larry got lined up with $1000 in cash, after which he took the microphone, thanked his fans for the years of support and announced that he is retiring from the competitive events.

That is how the 1966 Mr. Olympia passed, leaving everyone desperately waiting for the next edition of the show.
