100% Coenzyme Q10 is an essential cofactor in the mitochondrial electron transport chain, where it accepts electrons from complex I and II, an activity that is vital for the production of your bodies' primary cellular energy source ATP.  Furthermore, CoQ10  has antioxidant activity in mitochondria and cellular membranes, protecting against the peroxidation of lipid membranes.  It also inhibits the oxidation of LDL-cholesterol, which may reduce risk of developing arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries).1

  • Supplemental CoQ10   may have many possible beneficial effects on the human body:

  • CoQ10 has powerful cardio protective properties, proven by several double blind placebo studies.  It has been an approved drug in Japan, since 1974, for the treatment of congestive heart failure.2

  • CoQ10 in some studies has been shown to possibly boost energy and speed recovery of muscle exhaustion and damage from vigorous exercise.3

  • CoQ10 has a powerful effect on reducing symptoms of gingivitis, including inflammation and pocketing of the gums.  CoQ10's efficacy in treatment of periodontal disease has been demonstrated in placebo controlled trials.4

  • CoQ10  itself has been suggested to be a cholesterol lowering agent, although more work is needed to prove this hypothesis.5
